From the Shelter to the Streets (of Pequot Lakes)
It all started in the spring of 2012, when Sophie Dupont and Mitch Prisby walked into the Crow Wing County Humane Society looking for a companion. They found him huddled in the back corner of kennel 7 — a scruffy, wide-eyed mutt with one floppy ear and an absolute refusal to stop wagging his tail. They named him Teddy.
Teddy grew up fast. By age two he had already chewed through three garden hoses, disassembled a bathroom faucet "just to see how it worked," and somehow managed to shut off the main water valve in the basement. Sophie and Mitch saw the potential.
With Sophie's business savvy and Mitch's background in construction, the family enrolled Teddy in every plumbing apprenticeship program they could find. What he lacked in opposable thumbs, he made up for in sheer determination and an uncanny ability to sniff out a slow leak from three rooms away.
By 2015, Ted's Plumbing & Heating was officially open for business in Pequot Lakes. These days, Teddy oversees every job — usually from a comfortable spot on the passenger seat — while his crew of two-legged humans does the heavy lifting. The whole family is proud to serve this community, one pipe at a time.
